Affiliate Marketing – How can you make it work?

I often take the view that everyone knows what affiliate marketing is, and how it works, however, I have recently come to realise that this is not always the case, and those of you who do know what it is are often looking for new ideas on how to do affiliate marketing properly.

So let’s start with the basics, Wikipedia provided the following definition of affiliate marketing:

“Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.”

Now, let’s look at my example:

“I am an ICE3X cryptocurrency exchange affiliate, which in a nutshell means that I have an affiliate URL which I share with traders, inviting them to buy and sell their cryptocurrency on ICE3X. If they use my affiliate link to sign up and trade, I earn commision.” (Ps. This is actually true, I do this!)

So basically, affiliate marketing, is marketing a company, bringing new customers to them, adding liquidity to the market and earning money. Now that we have the basics down, let me tell you a little bit more about what I do, and how I do it.

I have already explained that I am an affiliate for ICE3X cryptocurrency exchange, and I have a unique affiliate URL which I use to try direct new customers (traders) to the ICE3X website. The more traders I get on board, the better for me, because in my case traders mean commision.

The brilliant thing about being an affiliate marketer is simple, you do not have to spend money, to make money. I have a simple process which I follow in order to market my affiliate link and earn extra income, so if you are interested in learning how to do affiliate marketing properly, keep reading.

Firstly, start with social media. Social media has changed the way we do business, it gives you the chance to connect with others on an open platform, in a way that we have never seen before. And affiliate marketing, has been along for the ride.

Social media and affiliate marketing, go together, why?

  • You can establish your audience
  • Drive traffic
  • Build your brand & credibility
  • Connect and network
  • And in my case, EARN COMMISION.

So if you are starting out as an affiliate marketer, get yourself all over social media, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and anything else you can think of. Video tutorial on YouTube are also a brilliant way to gain visibility.

Secondly, there are tons of forums and chat sites out there that provide really insightful knowledge into all business industries. You will be amazed at how many people don’t just use Google to find the answer to everything, so find some forums, establish your authority and become an industry leader by providing advice, updates and support to those who are looking for a break into the industry you are in.

Then I always will love the power of a blog or a website, where you really can build your brand and get followers interested in what you are doing and saying. Use your blog to write about the latest news of the industry you are in, answer FAQs, or document your daily activities. Whatever you do, a blog or a website is a brilliant platform to point people to for help and advice.

Then once you have established your blog, and started to grow your following, go back to the simplest form of marketing (for me anyway), email marketing! And no, I am not suggesting that you should spam your subscribers inboxes with a bunch of pointless emails, but give them something to be excited about… whether it be a competition, something a bit more fun and less business related or other user’s experiences (if they are willing to share), email marketing can help your gage exactly what your audience is looking for and help you come up with new ideas to keep them keen.

And lastly, I would always suggest to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing. Or just affiliate marketers in general, they are always providing me with tips on what I can do to shake it up or what’s new and what works.

If you are looking to start investing in Bitcoin, the ICE3X affiliate program allows you to use your commission to create a buy order on the ICE3X trading platform and buy any crypto currency the platform is currently supporting, ETH, LTC or BTC. The ICE3X affiliate program is therefore another way to become a Bitcoin trader yourself.
